The People's Agreement

On 22nd May 1998, the people of the island of Ireland voted for the Good Friday Agreement.

Twenty years on, the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Simon Coveney T.D., is pleased to invite members of the public to visit Iveagh House, a building with a strong connection to the Good Friday Agreement, for a series of events to mark the support of the people of this island for the Peace Process.

Iveagh House

On 22nd May 2018, guided tours of Iveagh House, home of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, will take place at 10am, 11am, 11.30am and 12pm. Beidh camchuairt ar Theach Uíbh Eachach trí Gaeilge ar a 11. These tours will give members of the public the opportunity to take a look inside this historic building which has a strong connection to the Good Friday Agreement. Guided tours will take in the key features of Iveagh House and will also allow participants to take in a digital exhibition on the Good Friday Agreement, prepared by University of Liverpool with the support of the Reconciliation Fund, which will be installed in Iveagh House for the day. A separate panel discussion will take place at 2pm looking at the role of public support for the Peace Process and looking ahead to how the people of this island, North and South, can further reconciliation.  This will be followed by a keynote address by the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Simon Coveney T.D.  The Tánaiste will then present prizes to the winners of the Good Friday Agreement 20th Anniversary Creative Competition.  The competition was open to entries from groups or individuals in primary and post-primary schools on the theme of "20 Years of Peace and Reconciliation on the island of Ireland."  This will be followed by a reception.
